CPSA allows valid CPSA members to earn signature and merit awards when their work appears in one of the two CPSA annual exhibitions the required number of times. The times are tracked separately for each show, and each has its own designation: “CPSA” for the International Exhibition and “CPX” for Explore This! (starting with 2009). Upon earning signature status, members may use the appropriate designation after their names effective when CPSA makes the announcement.
Earning signature requires a member’s work to appear three times within ten consecutive shows of the same kind. The window begins with the first time and continues for nine more exhibitions. If the first time is in 2000, for example, the tenth time would be in 2009. The count would then begin again from the second time the member was in that show. Beyond that, members receive a certificate of merit at 5- and 10-time milestones (no time limit).

- 20 times—Pin with lavender gem
- 30 times—Pin with purple gem
REQUIREMENTS
Members must meet the following requirements to earn and maintain signature and merit awards:
- Artist must pay dues within the membership year of the first selection.
- Artists must maintain continuous membership to qualify for and retain these honors. Any lapse will result in the loss of signature and merit awards as well as prior selections.
- Artwork must actually appear for the duration of the exhibition.
- Artwork withdrawn or disqualified for failing to meet show specifications does not count and may result in loss of signature status.
