ArtSpectations is an annual online fine art colored pencil competition hosted by the Colored Pencil Society of America. ArtSpectations has one big difference from other exhibitions hosted by CPSA—there is no “jurying in” process. Every entry that meets artist eligibility and artwork criteria will appear in the competition.
The entry period each year is May 1 to August 15. Once the entry period ends, our judge reviews all the entries and selects award winners in both a Signature category (members who have earned CPSA and/or CPX signature status from our juried exhibitions) and a Non-signature category. This provides an opportunity for all artists to compete against their peers. A $500 Best of Show prize is awarded in each category and several honorable mention awards are also announced.
Entries and award winners become visible at the Online Juried Shows website when the show debuts, by September 15 or before. Award winners are also announced and featured on the CPSA website.
The ArtSpectations competition is held on the Online Juried Shows website.
Entries are displayed in alphabetical order by artist name. Each thumbnail image can be clicked to display a larger image and details about the entry. Artists may enter artwork that is for sale or not for sale. Interested buyers will be able to contact the artist through the CPSA exhibitions director, with any sales negotiated directly between the artist and potential buyer. No commission is taken on sales. Works should be either 100% colored pencil or predominantly colored pencil mixed with other media and have been completed within the past 5 years.
ArtSpectations remains on the Online Juried Shows website, so your art is viewable from anywhere in the world.
Entries open on May 1 and close August 15. The 2018-19 prospectus will be available in early April.
